There’s more to methylation testing
45 reports across five areas. Here’s what your results look like.

Methylation Profile
5 reportsKey methylation genes such as MTHFR across five cycles, including the Folate, Methionine and BH4 cycles.
What’s included
Folate Cycle
The Folate Cycle converts dietary folate into usable forms for critical bodily processes. Variations like impaired MTHFR or DHFR function can significantly reduce folate processing efficiency.
Genes: DHFR, MTHFD1, MTHFR (A1298C), MTHFR (C677T)
Methionine Cycle
The Methionine Cycle drives methylation by producing SAMe, vital for gene expression, detox and brain chemistry. Variants here can raise homocysteine and stall key pathways like BH4 and Transsulphuration.
Genes: MTR, MTRR, FUT2, TCN2, PEMT, BHMT
Transsulphuration Pathway
This pathway clears homocysteine by turning it into cysteine, fuel for glutathione and taurine. Variants can affect how efficiently it runs, including how your body handles sulphites.
Genes: CBS (C699T), GSS
BH4 Cycle
The BH4 Cycle makes key neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin and supports nitric oxide production. Knowing your BH4 profile can help you support mood, sleep and motivation.
Genes: MTHFR (A1298C), COMT, VDR, MAOA, MAOB
Urea Cycle
The Urea Cycle detoxifies ammonia and produces arginine, needed for nitric oxide, which supports healthy blood flow. Variants can influence nitric oxide production and how your body handles oxidative stress.
Genes: NOS3, SOD2

Frequently asked questions
What is the Optimal DNA & Methylation Test?
It’s our most comprehensive analysis, combining methylation insights, nutrigenetics, fitness traits, sleep and stress response, and skin-related genetics to give you a complete view of your biological blueprint.
Why does methylation matter?
Methylation is a key biological process that influences gene expression, detoxification, energy production, immune balance, neurotransmitter function, and cellular repair.
Genetic variants can affect how efficiently your body uses nutrients like folate and B12, which may impact energy, mood, recovery, and long-term wellbeing.
What’s included with the Optimal DNA & Methylation Test?
Your kit includes:
• At-home DNA collection kit + prepaid return
• 5 Methylation reports
• 24 Nutrigenetic reports
• 4 Fitness genetics reports (power/endurance, recovery, training response, injury risk)
• 5 Sleep & stress genetics reports
• 7 Skin genetics reports
• 1:1 expert support
• Your personal results summary
Which methylation pathways are analysed?
Methylation is a process your body runs all the time to turn food into energy, clear out waste and make the chemicals that affect your mood. The test looks at five parts of it:
- Folate cycle: how well your body uses folate (vitamin B9) from foods like leafy greens
- Methionine cycle: how you use vitamin B12 and other nutrients to keep the whole process running
- Transsulphuration pathway: how your body clears waste and makes glutathione, its main antioxidant
- BH4 cycle: how you make serotonin and dopamine, the chemicals behind mood, focus and sleep
- Urea cycle: how your body clears ammonia and supports healthy blood flow
In short, it shows which nutrients your body may need more of, so you can choose the right foods and supplement forms for you.
Which methylation genes are included?
We analyse a broad panel of methylation-related genes within a 9,000+ marker analysis, including:
MTHFR, MTR, MTRR, COMT, BHMT, CBS, MAOA, MAOB, DHFR, FUT2, NOS3, PEMT, SOD2, TCN2, VDR, and more.
How are the genes in the test chosen?
Your test looks at SNPs: small, common differences in your DNA that influence how your body uses nutrients, handles stress, recovers from exercise and more. Your sample is analysed on a custom Illumina DNA microarray in an accredited UK laboratory, covering 110 genes and over 9,000 genetic markers. A variant is only included in your report if its effect has been shown in human studies and replicated in at least three separate research studies, so your results focus on findings with solid evidence behind them.
How can this test help me?
You’ll receive precise, personalised recommendations across:
- Nutrition & supplements
- Training & recovery
- Sleep optimisation
- Stress resilience
- Skin and ageing
These insights help you understand your unique biology and make targeted changes.
Is this an epigenetic or "biological age" test?
No. This test looks at the genes you were born with, including key methylation genes such as MTHFR, COMT and MTR, to show how efficiently your methylation pathways are likely to work. Because your genes don't change, you only need to take it once. Epigenetic or "biological age" tests measure something different: chemical marks on your DNA that change over time with lifestyle, and they are usually repeated to track progress. Our test is designed to guide your nutrition, supplement and lifestyle choices for life.
What type of support do I receive?
Every test includes a free 1:1 call with the founder, a certified biohacker, plus a personal summary of your results, reviewed with a specialist nutritionist. If you work with a personal trainer, your summary can be shared with them too.
How long do results take?
Results are usually delivered within 10 business days after your sample reaches our laboratory.
Where is the test available?
We ship to the UK and selected European countries. You'll see the full list at checkout. If your country isn't listed, please get in touch.
